Job Summary

Plumber / Heating Engineer (Mechanical Craftsperson) – Suffolk Based at Bury St Edmunds

Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) is looking for a skilled Plumber/Heating Engineer to join its existing multi-disciplinary professional maintenance team in providing a safe environment for all service users, staff and visitors across Suffolk & Norfolk sites. Being based in Bury St Edmunds.

The successful candidate would be flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and confident in being part of a team that provides a comprehensive maintenance service in a unique varied environment and ideally Gas Safe Registered, however this is not essential as NSFT will support and provide relevant training for the right person.

Main Duties of the Job

Duties & Responsibilities associated with this role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a comprehensive service to include all aspects of planned, routine and reactive maintenance
  • The repair and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical services and equipment on site
  • Fault finding and diagnosis
  • Routine inspections to ensure the estate is safe and fully compliant
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with the requirements of Health & Safety and other relevant legislation
  • Participation as a member of the On-Call Team providing an emergency out of hours service on a rotational basis

Person Specification

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work at height using ladders/ scaffolding, access platforms and in confined spaces

Experience

Essential

  • Two years experience having demonstrated high technical verstility and flexability

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a mental health or secure services hospital environment

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised and registered CITB or EITB minimum three year apprenticeship in plumbing/mechanical engineering AND/OR City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering Parts 1, 2 & 3 or Plumbing NVQ 1, 2 & 3 OR BTEC, ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence for ability to drive Trust vehicles

Desirable

  • BTEC, ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Accredited Certificate Scheme (ACS) Gas Qualified
