Job Summary

The University is seeking an experienced communications specialist to manage the work of the Communications team which supports its digital and information services. Based in the Office of the Chief Digital and Information Officer (OCDIO), this role will be key to helping leaders and subject-matter experts in IT services, information security, research computing, data services, and digital governance and innovation to engage staff and students across Oxford with a broad and ambitious digital agenda.

Salary: Grade 8: ยฃ49,119 โ€“ ยฃ58,265 per annum, depending on experience (pro rata if part time)

About the Role

The University of Oxford digital and information services are a collaborative and ambitious group of departments and units reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO). The OCDIO Communications team works with colleagues across the University of Oxford to support digital priorities set out in the Universityโ€™s Strategic Plan.

The post holder will develop strategic, audience-focused communications plans and oversee high-quality content and engagement across multiple channels, including online and in-person events. The role involves working closely with a Project Communications Manager and reporting to the Head of Communications (Digital & IT).

This is a full-time post, but part-time working will be considered. Flexible, hybrid working is available (minimum of two days per week required on site).

This role sits within a communications team focused on engaging staff with IT and digital developments, supporting cybersecurity awareness, and promoting digital products, services, and innovation across the University of Oxford.

About the Candidate

Substantial experience of managing communications and events in a large and complex organisation is required. The role also requires strong writing, editorial, and stakeholder management skills.

The successful candidate must be confident in simplifying complex and highly technical information into clear and engaging communications, managing competing priorities, and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. Leadership experience is also required, including the ability to manage, develop, and motivate a team.

This role meets the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa. The University of Oxford will meet the cost of the Skilled Worker visa, subject to eligibility, and the NHS surcharge for applicants who require a visa.
